Just received an email from WVUgame.com that ticket sales for West Virginia’s home football game against Maryland on Sept. 18 have been suspended. Although those tickets are gone tickets remain for all of the remaining home games at this time including USF, Syracues, Cincinnati, and Rutgers. Tickets for the Connecticut, Louisville and Pitt road games also remain on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office.

The WVU football schedule starts Sept 4th 2010 with a home game against Coastal Carolina at 3:00 pm currently scheduled to be aired on Big East Television.

As the WVU football schedule is getting ready to kick in that also means that WVU Fan Day is even closer. This year the WVU Fan Day is scheduled for Sunday August 22nd starting at 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. If you’ve never been to a Fan Day the first thing you need to know is be there wayyyy before starting time. In fact there will be large lines starting at probably 11:00 am.

This year WVU Football Fan Day will be held in the Caperton Indoor practice facility next to Milan Puskar Stadium. At fan day you get to meet the 2010 Mountaineers and coaching staff and get one autographed item. Mountaineer Fan Day is free and open to the public. See you there!!!

If you are interested in getting season tickets for upcoming WVU football you might want to know that a limited number of tickets will go on sale Tuesday July 13th at 9:00 a.m Season tickets for the seven home games on the schedule are $325 and most locations will require a Mountaineer Athletic Club donation. According to information from the Athletic department orders will be limited to eight tickets per customer based on availability.

You can purchase these tickets by calling 1-800-WVU-Game or you may visit the Mountaineer ticket office in the coliseum. For these tickets they are not accepting online orders. Make sure you get your tickets and be at the first game on the WVU schedule Sept 4th when the Mountaineers play Coastal Carolina at 3:30 pm.

A recent email I received from the Athletic Dept

Gold-Blue Game Set For Friday, April 30
West Virginia University will hold the annual Gold-Blue spring football scrimmage Friday, April 30, at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. The intrasquad scrimmage will conclude WVU’s spring football drills.

Gold-Blue Game festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. as Mountaineer fans can stop by the Fan Festival in the stadium lot adjacent to the Ronald McDonald House. Kids will be able to play on inflatable games and get autographs from former Mountaineer football players.

The festivities will continue with an “Old Timers” game featuring former WVU football lettermen inside Milan Puskar Stadium at 7 p.m. that will lead up to the Gold-Blue Game kickoff.

Tickets are available for $5 each. They can be purchased in person in advance the week of the game at the Mountaineer Ticket Office located in the WVU Coliseum or at the Milan Puskar Stadium gate on game day. WVU students will be admitted free with a valid ID.

Proceeds from the Gold-Blue Game again will benefit WVU Children’s Hospital.

Stadium parking lots will open at 5 p.m. with certain areas of the blue lot available for Gold-Blue game parking and other areas of the blue lot reserved for hospital parking only. More details on available parking wil be released as gameday approaches.

WVU Football To Honor Coal Miners in Recent Disaster
Head Coach Bill Stewart announced that the football program will display a helmet decal to honor the 29 coal miners who were tragically killed in the Upper Big Branch mine disaster on April 5.

The decal will be a white circle with a black number 29 in the middle of the circle. This decal will be displayed for the WVU Gold-Blue Game and throughout the entire 2010 football season.

“These 29 miners deserve our respect,” Stewart, who lost his uncle, Buss Williams, in a mining accident in 1961 said. “This is a way we can honor what these guys stood for. They were true West Virginians who were working to support their families. That blue collar work ethic is what our program is all about.”
