I’m sure we have all heard by now that Barry Brunetti, the backup Quarterback for the Mountaineers this year has chosen to move on. I see him popping up in a new school somewhere south of West Virginia in the coming years and I wish him the best. My problem is that he has decided to join the WVU Mountaineers in their quest to win the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando on December 28th. I know he has put in all the hard work throughout the year and deserves to join his former teammates in Orlando but, I was wondering if he would be eligible to play in that game, and could it affect WVU football down the line.
I’m not an expert in this kind of stuff so instead of making a statement I’m asking this as a question. Since school would be over for the semester and he is on a scholarship I’m sure there would be some paperwork to fill out with both WVU and the NCAA resigning or whatever. If so, would he still be considered enrolled at WVU? If he wasn’t enrolled at WVU how could he play in the game for insurance and eligibility reasons? Just a couple of questions I hope the compliance people look at before the bowl game.
It looks like tickets are not selling as well as expected for the Champs Sports Bowl on December 28th between WVU and North Carolina St. It could be the economy or just that everybody is waiting until closer to the game to get tickets. Can’t see why anyone who is a fan and can afford it would want to miss this game and support the Mountaineers. And you can use it as a side vacation to Disney World to make the wife and kids happy!

The West Virginia University football program picked up two verbal commitments after defeating UNLV Saturday. Shaquille Petteway, a 6’1, 185 lb player from Steubenville, Ohio and 6’2 185lb wide receiver Kenneth Myers both committed verbally to the WVU staff after the game.
Petteway could end playing the position of safety or linebacker for the Mountaineers. He chose WVU over offers from Michigan State and Syracuse. Meyers from Jacksonville, Florida had offers from Illinois, Louisville, Mississippi, and South Florida.
